U of M, MCS seeking applicants for librarian Support for Online Study cohort

Through a federal grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the University of Memphis and MCS are currently recruiting the Second SOS Cohort (Support for Online Study). IMLS awarded this grant to the University of Memphis to help address a pressing need in the Memphis area. 


SOS Cohort members will receive tuition, fees, and books for online courses in preparation for certification as a School Library Information Specialist (SLIS) and placement in the MCS candidate pool as a School Library Information Specialist. Cohort members will also be assigned a laptop computer and a mentor to aid them in successful completion of the program.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with minimum GPA of 3.0; Master’s degree preferred
Must meet requirements for admission to University of Memphis SLIS program
Must be eligible for employment with Memphis City Schools. If you are not a current MCS employee, you must apply at www.teachmemphis.org.
